Hi Dave

There's a meet-up planned for the bank holiday weekend at the end of August, but nothing so far in September. You can check the calendar (top of the page) for planned meet-ups.

I would like to get something organised for WalkingForum, but it will probably be in October now because I'm pretty busy until then.
It may well end-up being family orientated, because it is something people on here keep talking about as a good idea, but not something that has happened yet.
I may however also think about a more serious slog round for the grown-ups.

Would anyone be interested if I got something together based around my local area - which is either the bits of the Derwent Valley just south of the Peak District, or the southern extremities of the Peak to the West (I.e. Carsington Water, Tissington, Ilam et al)- or is it the 'true' Peak District or bust for you lot?
- And that question goes for either a family walk, or an adult's walk.

Hi Dave
Keep checking the meet's section out, There is talk of a walk round Derwent reservoir or may be around the Cat and Fiddle / Shutlingsloe. I will know more after sunday, Plus I have two weekends booked up in September so will probably be the first week or the last week in September  O0

I think a family walk would be good. How old are your kids, Joester?

Do a walk from Ashopton around Ladybower Res top end,  making Fairholmes your halfway stop.   Ranger Station, toilets, food Grub and shop there.  Also kids can feed the wildlife.  Then finish back at Main bridge that leaves you the local pub for anyone wanting after walk refreshments.

Also dont forget Heatherdene carpark for a walk up Win Hill, the marked walk could be done in 2- 3 hours for those happy to walk up hill.

Yep, a walk around Lady B with the kids would be great; my youngest would be up for that.

And for the older brood; here's a walk I've done before; if anyone is interested:

Being born in Sheffield, we call "Buns-baps-rolls-barms-cobs" etc breadcakes.

So i'm guessing that cakes - of - bread refers to the similarity between the above and our beloved breadcakes.

We also call 2 slices of potato with fish in the middle deep fried in batter a fishcake  8) O0

A tunnel between 2 houses is a gennel (pronounced jen -ell) unlike ginnel for those in the wetter half of the country
