KINDER SCOUT SAT 19TH SEP 2009
« on: 21:40:11, 21/09/09 »
We met at Bowden Bridge and did the walk from Hayfield. Set off about 9am and trudged - well I did - up towards Kinder Scout. I'd not done this route before and found it tougher than the Edale route but more rewarding. Much better views and the day was good weatherwise. We got a bit lost on the bogs trying to find Kinder Downfall - well everyone except Jim did anyway! - I almost lost my boot and batfink lost his walking poles, never to be seen again! But we got there in the end to be welcomed by our woolley welcoming committee who tried to break into my sandwich box and seemed to take quite a shine to our Jimbo!

All in all it was a great day out with a great bunch of guys for company. Even ended up with a larger shandy in the pub at the end which went down a treat... O0

Anyway, here's some piccies!

True Granty. Jim and Batfink gave you good competition!  ;) Glad you enjoyed it mate and it was good to meet you. Hope to see you on the next one, whatever one that is. You will have to suggest a walk. I recall you mentioned some good ones  O0

Nice pics Steve, ill tag mine on here also this evening. Was a good day but i agree the long slog up hill was more than the Ladybower meet, but i did enjoy it......i need to lose a little weight, did you post the pics as widescreen lol.

Im looking forward to another walk as soon as ! I got a few midgy bites and a nice tan, thanks for the sun cream i must remember to put some with my kit and not leave it in the car.

I never knew there was so much in the Peak District. I love wales as well but the Peak aint far, and neither is The Lakes............. Lakes walk anyone ???? Make a day of it....barby at the car ??? some cake  :P

Granty.....post your pics, cant wait to see them.

I like the lakes or the Peaks

Do we do a small walk to encourage new people or go for the more challenging walk?

I know SuperDuper seems to have got the walking bug and has already gone on a navigation course..

Mind you we aint heard anything off Karin since the lakes or seen any pics posted.. (could still be on hols though)
