Great photo.
There was a long running topic on clouds some years ago, started and posted by a member, who seems to left. Been thinking about it recently as we have been having a more varied daily cloud show recently, I saw a cloud yesterday that made me think of a happy dolphin with an upturned nose, or it could have been a legless dragon, as the tongue might have been a wisp of smoke. Sadly by the time I got my camera, and back to position the cloud had changed to be unworthy of particular note.

That’s a beautiful sunset Richard. We haven’t had much of a break in the clouds recently, but here is an older one from a late evening walk in Shieldaig, which is a place I think you are familiar with.

Thanks Dovegirl, bww, Bigfoot_Mike.
Yes that Shieldaig sunset is a beauty, Mike.
I love the Torridonian sandstone and quartzite landscape, nowhere else quite like it in Britain for mountain architecture

What interests me in my opening photo is the bright vertical line running upwards from where the sun has set. I've noticed this a lot in Orkney, but I'm not sure what causes this, despite searching on the web. Perhaps sunlight reflected upwards from the sea over the horizon onto the underside of the clouds?

A cracking photo O0.

That reminds me, the solstice is only a fortnight away, where has this year gone?

I think you may be right about sunlight reflecting on the clouds Richard. This is another sunset at Shieldaig. The sun is obvious here and there is a vertical reflection here.
