Whitby to Robin Hoods Bay via the Cleveland Way.

Was away on holiday near Whitby last week and I thought I would try get in a couple of walks.

Walked from Ruswarp to Whitby via the train path next to the railway line. Climbed the 199 steps up the hill to the top of the abbey, then on the Cleveland way all the way to Robin Hoods Bay. Had some dinner there and then walked back to Whitby via the old cinder track and across the viaduct then back into Ruswarp.

Pleasant little walk, around 6 miles each way.

That's a lovely walk from Whitby to Robin Hood's Bay. We did it ourselves a couple of months back. Unfortunately a fret had rolled in from the sea that morning so we couldn't see much further than the ends of our noses by the time we'd climbed up to the abbey but it did clear about halfway along so we got some lovely views as we neared Robin Hoods Bay. It's a walk I could happily do again and again, if I lived closer.

Welcome to the forum too, btw!  :)

Great photos, especially the second one    :)    I did a shortish walk along the coast southwards from Robin Hood's Bay and back and that's lovely too.

We walked RHB to Whitby along the coast some years ago, planned to walk back along the old rail line but had to get the bus as we ran out of time. A lovely sunny breezy walk if I remember correctly. Welcome.

I was planning to do a bit more of the Cleveland route, but went on a walk in the Esk Valley the day before so the legs was a bit stiff ha

I can thoroughly recommend the cinder track path from Ravenscar to Whitby - 12 miles'ish of nice, gentle, easy going, often scenic walking.  Setting off early on a Sunday morning meant I missed most of the crowds and landed in Whitby just in time for a late breakfast/early lunch :D.
I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake.
