Title: Hearts First Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge 2008
Post by: Jess1 on 22:49:15, 01/02/08
I am the event organiser for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) organised Yorkshire Three Peaks walk on Saturday 26 July 2008.

This scenic 25 mile hike starting from Horton in Ribblesdale playing fields takes walkers through the Yorkshire Dales National Park and over three of the highest peaks in Yorkshire – Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. Walkers travel from throughout the country to take on the challenge in this picturesque part of Yorkshire. The distance of 25 miles on this circular walk can be quite strenuous but with some training and the careful selection of equipment most people can accomplish this walk.

Walkers can start from 6.00am to 6.30am and it usually takes between 9-13 hours to complete the walk. There is ample parking for cars at the playing fields in Horton in Ribblesdale. Please come prepared with a day’s food and refreshments to see you through the walk, there will also be two water stations along the route to replenish your supply. Mini buses will be on stand by in case you decide that the challenge is too much for you to complete which will take you to the finish.

 Entry Fee & Other Information
The entry fee is £15 per person and the closing date for registrations is 14th July 2008. For this event we are asking participants to try and raise at least £100 each (that’s just £4.00 for every mile you walk).   Due to the nature of the challenge we will not be taking on the day registrations for this event, so make sure you enter in plenty of time to raise your sponsorship. For further information on this event and entry forms please call Free phone 0800 085 2280 or email [email protected]
