Swaledale Meadows & Swinner Gill

We were meant to do this walk the previous Saturday with some members of the Online Fellwalking Club but family committments had ruled that out. After seeing pictures from their walk we decided to fit it in during the week. We left the car at Muker and made our way through the Hay meadows which looked fantastic. We then walked up the west side of the River Swale to Keld, fitting in a visit to Kisdon Force on the way. From Keld we walked to the ruins of Crackpot Hall before dropping into Swinner Gill and following this up to the old lead mines. Our way back was along the Arn Gill Scar escarpment before descending to Ramps Holme bridge for another walk through the meadows to Muker. Pictures for the walk are now available on the website.

Did this walk for the umpteenth time today and I never get tired of it.

There can't be many who haven't discovered the charms of Swaledale but if by any chance there are one or two of you out there still....go and try it out this weekend!
