The walk is from the Walking Englishman
http://www.walkingenglishman.com/northyorkshire14.htm. On website he describes it as a "jewel" of a walk. And it really was. It took us 5 hours to walk 6 miles. Not because it was difficult, but because we spent so long exploring and seeing. Waterfalls, herons, becks and steam trains. Fantastic.
The one piece of information which may be important to pass on is that Mike B's 'scary path' is now positively dangerous, and we couldn't find a safe route under/over the railway line near Thomason Foss. Apart from that, what a wonderful, wonderful afternoon. As always the whole story can be found on my blog, but herewith the shortened version.
We walked along West Beck first
Until we got to Mallyan Spout
From there to Beck Hole, and then between Eller Beck and the railway line. Steam Engine. Fantastic!
Looking across to Goathland moor
Before we got to Goathland where we watched steam engines huff and chuff into the station.
Whistling and hissing. Then through Goathland itself. Lurrrrvvvly. This was an unusual sight though.......
Peter took loads of video of becks and waterfalls and trains. When he's edited and made it into a little film, I'll post the link. (He's a frustrated Steven Spielberg, and does put good little films together).
I can honestly recommend visiting this area to anyone. We had a fantastic time.
