My friends and I for my 30th birthday are walking from San Francisco to Los Angeles and doing it in just 3 weeks. Doing it to raise money for Oxfam. So any donations or advice would be great. Heading off on the 21st November this year.

Many Thanks

Rob

Ribble Way Challenge
The Sue Ryder - Ribble Way Challenge takes place on 18-19 June 2011 and is a100km walk in under 30 hours.

Each team of four walkers will require a support team of two people who will provide your food, water, change of clothes, drive a support vehicle and meet you at every checkpoint.  Your support crew will be vital to your success and comfort along the way.

You will start between 6.30am—8.30am on Saturday18th June at Ribblehead on the edge of the Pennines and finish at Preston Dock, within 30 hours, on Sunday 19th June.

Entry is £25 per walker and support crew go free.
Your entry fee contributes to the cost of providing first aid, safety, administration and specialist support through-out this professionally led event.

This event relies on participants raising sponsorship to be successful, so we’re asking every team member to raise around £250 as a part of their team building and commitment to this event. Participants can raise funds through various fundraising activities and a dedicated fundraiser will support you through raising your sponsorship.

£250 provides a nurse for 30 hours in one of our Hospices or Neurological Care Centres. This means for every hour you walk the Ribble Way Challenge you are providing a nurse during that hour.

10 Peaks Challenge - the UK's toughest charity challenge
« Reply #19 on: 20:22:29, 25/01/11 »
Some people may read the headline and dispute that. But the stats speak for themselves. The 10 Peaks involves climbing the 10 highest peaks in the Lake District in one continuous walk/run covering 73km with at least 5600m of ascent in 24 hours. Of the 52 people that took part last year no one finished. You are probably thinking that no one was fit enough, prepared enough, experienced enough? But you'd be wrong, the field included ironman triathletes, adventure racers, elite marathon runners, fell runners and armed forces. The reason no one finished was mainly due to the unpredictible nature of The Lakes, the one thing you can't really prepare for. Will the sun shine on us this year? Will you be the first person to finish the 10 Peaks Challenge? If you think you're in with a chance or simply just want to push yourself to the limit in some of the UK's most magnificant surroundings visit http://www.10peaks.com [nofollow]

Enter now! The price will go up by £10 at the end of January.

Charity Walk - The Rotary Navigation - West Yorkshire
« Reply #20 on: 10:30:14, 28/01/11 »
The "Rotary Navigation" is a sponsored walk in aid of local charities. The Charitable causes this year are; Wakefield Hospice, Kirkwood Hospice and The Forget Me Not Trust who are building a children's hospice in West Yorkshire. For 2011 the walk is on the morning of Sunday the 3rd of April. (Mothers Day - but you can knock the 8 miles off before midday can't you!) The route follows the course of the canals between the Navigation Pub in Mirfield and the the Navigation Pub at Calder Grove near Horbury.  The walk is bi-directional so you can start at Calder Grove or start at Mirfield. You can park at the end points and a coach will be available (first come first served) to transport you to your chosen start point.
Registration will be £5 and once registered you will receive your sponsorship form/s.

More information and download forms at http://www.rotarynavigation.co.uk [nofollow]

Do try and help us support these really good causes.

Cheers Jonty

For anyone who is interested I have a free page for posting charity walks at http://www.walkingenglishman.com/charitywalks.htm - the walk can be for any good cause and entries include organisations and individuals walking for a good cause.
I'm a walker on the edge of my perception. We're all travellers at the edge of our perceptions.

Hi all

If anyone is from South Lincolnshire and isn't aware there are various sponsored woof and wag walks going on in aid of St Banarbas Lincolnshire Hospice. The woof, the hubby and me are doing on in Bourne woods on the 22nd of May 2011. If you live in South Lincs and have a woof why not contact your local St Barnabas hospice for details?  :)

Slightly different.

For british heart foundation and Papworth hospital, im planning on a run into the waters at ogmore  by sea.

My fiancee lost her brother aged 25. He had a heart transplant aged 24 but it only progloned his life, it didnt save him.

Five years on life without him is still a huge struggle. To show support and show my fiancee and her family that there are other peole who have lost love ones and that there are people they can talk to AND of course to raise money for BHF and PWH; I'm looking for locals to ogmore (or people willing to travel from swansea, bridgend or cardiff) to join us at 10am on christmas day on the beach.

There will be plenty of towels and foil blankets availible along with a shot of brandy for everyone who takes part in running into the water to a buoyed point and back out again.

email me: [email protected] if your interested.

Thanks in advance

You can take with you all the gear money can buy, but what's the point if you don't take a camera?
