Stavanger Norway
« on: 21:11:31, 29/07/09 »
I'm over in Stavanger (Tananger) for a couple of weeks and fortunately for me after work I can go for a stroll along the coast. The air is clear, the bird life wonderful - I could watch Terns diving for small fish for ages. Tha flora is interesting - of course very similar to the western coasts of Britain, and the walking is easy along gently folded rocks, interspersed with the occassional boggy patch. Very peaceful and not a lot of people around - they have all gone on holiday elsewhere. Here are a few pics of the sun going down. I'm hoping to post some spectacular pictures next week but it very much depends on the weather...watch this space...

I think this means - maximum speed 5 knots ;D

A supply boat beating the tide

Sola beach near the airport - some of the landing lights are on the beach

an old boat house made up of beach boulders

plenty of birds roosting about now

time to go and have a gassy beer - too  expensive as well :o >:(

Well somebody has to be here... O0

Dramatic skies, pete. What does the sign translate as? I noticed that word in Danish in Copenhagen.

Must be something to do with speed as the speed bumps in the road are called Fartsputter..

"Limit of speed, maximum 5 knots"?

Norway's a foreign place I'd actually like to visit. That and Ireland.

To be sure - I had a week's touring around about 8 years ago - just turned left at Dublin and went in a big circle. The biggest and best surprise was the Guiness - it is absolutely fantastic and nothing like the pint we get served up in the UK. I didn't believe it when people used to tell me that, but it's true.

The walking's not bad either - have a look here for a taster..

This is one of the main reasons I'd like to go, to see these ancient structures like Knowth and Newgrange.

Anyway, this is a Norway thread, sorry...
