Hello! Funniest hiking/walking moment?
« on: 14:31:59, 22/05/20 »
Hi all!

I finally decided to join the forum and am looking forward to discussing/planing new walks and getting to know everyone!  My name is Sophie and I am 29 and live near the Peak District.  I have been a keen walker for a number of years and love getting out to explore.  Due to the unprecedented situation we have all found ourselves in, I thought that it would be a good idea for everyone to share their funniest/most embarrassing moments whilst out walking as a good way to get to know each other and give everyone's spirits a much needed lift.

My most embarrassing moment happened back in February, I am part of a local walking group and 10 of us had decided to go out on a Sunday walk and off to a nice pub for a meal afterwards.  I had made a New Year's resolution to start dieting and had managed to lose abit of weight, unfortunately this meant that my jeans had become slightly more loose.  Whilst walking up a hill my jeans unfortunately fell down in a second and I ended up flashing my knickers to my good friend Alan, a retired teacher, who was walking up behind me. Needless to say we all burst out laughing and are luckily we all could see the funny side!  I decided to lose for an action shot an it is now on our private Facebook walking group lol!

I have since given up the diet! Looking forward to hearing from you all!

With best wishes,

Sophie xx

Mine was trying to erect my tent after I got drunk. I think other campers were very amused. And there was that time in Coniston where, in almost pitch-black darkness, I lost my tent! I wandered around and around looking for it for ages (my torch was in the tent) before I realised that it was on THAT side of the wall, not THIS side! I mustn't forget the time when hiking the Pennine Journey when trying to get away from some cattle, I had to cross a dribbly stream and fell into a load of foul, smelly, slimy cow muck!!! Definitely not one of my better moments!

Walking in jeans with no rucksack and carrying a gun I don't think is a good look.

I would be more worried about the gun being out than the bum.

Bet there will be a few members who wished they'd check in a bit sooner
So many paths yet to walk, so little time left

I did and I posted after you. It was, erm.... hard to miss. Though I only noticed the gun when G&P commented on it.

With the original pic edited off, I went back to edit my post in case I was accused of being sexist or some sort of other ist.  :-\

You were clearly being a gentleman and averting your eyes from the centre of the picture.

I wonder if the Forum is being had. Just reading the posts I get an understanding of a gun toting female briefly baring her posterior to a walking forum. I have no feeling against the use of sporting firearms, in fact I have probably slaughtered more wild life in a gun toting youth than most of the prancing ninnies and posturing city gunnies that seem to invade the countryside today.

Just a suspicion as the poster's contribution is set on one, is this a genuine intro.
