We slept in on Saturday and didn't get into Keswick until 12.15pm. It wasn't a bad day, there was a threat of rain in the air, the cloud was capping the higher fells but we still had some views. We walked along Springs Road and up through Springs Wood.
Catbells from Springs Wood
The wind made its presence felt the higher we got. We didn't fancy getting blown about on Walla Crag so we turned right into Great Wood instead.
Beefy and Squeaky on the path through Great Wood
Fungi in Great Wood
Beefy and Squeaky enjoying the walk
From Great Wood we descended to Derwent Water and we walked back toward Keswick but stopped for a late lunch by the shore.
Raven Crag from our lunch stop
Catbells and Maiden Moor
It was cold though in the wind so we didn't stop that long. Not a bad view for our lunch
Catbells and Causey Pike from Keswick Boat Landings
Our route was Keswick - Springs Road - Springs Wood - Great Wood - Derwent Water shore path - Keswick 8km with 181m ascent. We enjoyed the walk, good enough for the time we had left of the day after we had dragged ourselves out of bed
