Sunday we went to Gelt Woods. It wasn't a bad day, hardly and wind, dry and we had a few nice views and a bit of sunshine.
Beefy in Gelt Woods
Beefy had too much time on his hands on Friday, he'd done a shorter walk than normal and decided to get creative with his beard. I have not been able to stop singing "Gotto pickapocket or two" all weekend. Not sure why.
The River Gelt
The river was pretty full and was racing along, nice to look at. Lots of mud on the paths.

Looking back at the bridleway to Castle Carrock
Sunshine again, it really was a nice day and we were enjoying the walk
Toward Castle Carrock
Talkin Fell from the road by Jockey Shield to Geltsdale
Talkin Fell in close up
We couldn't find anywhere to sit for lunch, the wind had picked up a bit and it was freezing. The sky had clouded over and the sun disappeared. We eventually made do near the bridleway to Talkin Head Farm but it wasn't ideal, we didn't stay very long, we got cold very quickly.
On the way down to Talkin Head Farm
Castle Carrock Fell
The cloud had built up and there were no views toward the Lake District except for what I thought might be Longlands Fell, I didn't get a photo though!

Rainbow
There must be rain somewhere. We got caught in a hail shower on the railway path, it was very heavy but only lasted a couple of minutes.
Our route was Hayton Lane End - Lower Gelt Bridge - Middle Gelt Bridge - Greenwell - Castle Carrock - Jockey Shield - Geltsdale - Talkin Head - Talkin Village - Farlam - Talkin Tarn - Brampton Station - Railway path - Brampton. 19.3km with 250m ascent. It was 3 hours 30 walking time.
