Loughrigg fell to Nab Scar part one
« on: 18:39:25, 12/02/19 »
I'm splitting this walk report in two as I took several photos last Sunday in the lakes. Starting from Rydal village I walked beside Rydal water before ascending Loughrigg fell from Loughrigg Terrace. This was the fourth time I've climbed Loughrigg fell. After admiring the views from the summit I made my way to Silver How. It took me 1.75 hours between these summits. Once I gained the summit I descended to Grasmere, my favourite Lakeland village. I decided to complete a circular walk to Rydal via Alcock tarn and Nab Scar. From Grasmere to Rydal took me 1.75 hours. These fells may not be the highest but what I learnt is that sometimes fells which may be miniature in height can offer a rewarding walk experience. Total time was 5.75 hours.

I was wondering why there were no photos on Loughrigg, when I was looking at your other report, you had hidden them here  :D I guess there is a clue in your titles  :-[

More fab pics from these very rewarding fells  O0

Thanks April :)  If pressed into stating my favourite central fell, the winner would be Loughrigg O0

I was visiting Grasmere and thought Loughrigg was nothing special - ended up on a morning run around Grasmere, decided to head up to the top and didn't regret it at all, great views.  Also it has quite an under-rated walk out through Redbank Woods which are covered in snowdrops at this time of year.  Absolutely serene part of the world.

Very nice photos henry, the light was good for capturing some distant views.
I agree with you about Loughrigg, it holds a special place in my heart, despite it's modest height. It's one of those grandstand locations that offers excellent views all around.
Only a hill but all of life to me, up there between the sunset and the sea.

Wonderful stuff, Henry - especially like the one of Bowfell and the Crinkles.  O0
