TR: CV#05 - a short Woodcote walk
« on: 12:48:35, 21/05/20 »
A few pics from a short and hot sunny walk locally around Woodcote:-

Bridgewater Canal & Budenberg from Broadheath bridge.

The two main apartment buildings of Budenberg, one of the Urban Splash regeneration projects, were inspired by the shape of ocean liners and overhang the canal, at once suggesting the appearance of two large ships in dock with a battleship-grey aesthetic to match. Very unusual and quite appealing (to us anyway) when seen from the canal, but from the road on the opposite side, the entrance is very stark and evokes a prison.

Entering Woodcote area:-
Much of this area is scrubby heathland and small trees, pleasant today in the sunshine with nobody about but has little to draw the eye. The track passes around a large fenced array of solar panels working overtime today.

Woodcote pools:-
These pools appear to be excellent wildlife habitats but are surrounded by a stout lattice fence preventing close observation. The camera lens would just about fit in the fence hole for an awkwardly taken shot.
The velvety green area left of centre is not grass, it's part of the pool covered by duckweed and other surface vegetation.

Descending to the trackbed at Woodcote bridge:-
We returned along the disused rail trackbed from Woodcote bridge and Sinderland Brook.

Sinderland Brook at Woodcote:-

Lovely pics.
I like the look of the ship-flats too but I wonder it it makes the lower ones feel dark.

Very pleasant, and it was welcome in that heat.

It's hard to tell from the towpath, but the overhang is quite small and the full height windows look particularly tall.

yes, a quite small area on the north-western outskirts covered on this stroll.

Thanks April, even a small brook path is a welcome relief from the tarmac of civilization.

It might have only been a short stroll but it looks lovely.  Nice and varied.

I'm still enjoying reading people's "local" walks and I hope they continue once lockdown is completely done and dusted.

Thank you for posting  :)

Thanks Mel, we'll be posting local stuff for quite a long time yet I fear, waiting for public transport to be safe enough.
