They should have made him walk out with them - all 8  miles
So many paths yet to walk, so little time left

People who puts lives at risk and waste time and resources like that should have to pay a hefty donation to th rescue services that attend.

There was one like that in the Carneddau last year, he was reported missing from a group in Foel Grach bothy, and MRT found him asleep where he'd wandered off away from his companions.

Now that locations can be relayed by a smart phone or one of the other digital ways to send a position.  There is always the problem when this position is relayed that because it takes time to assemble a group of searchers and more time to reach the  position on foot...maybe four or five hours... I would guess that many of the folks who have sent the Grid reference, if still able to move, will have moved to at least a more sheltered position. On this occasion to a very sheltered position inside a Bothy.
With many of these occasions having moved the person with the Mobile will perhaps now have no signal or even no battery power to give new position and map reference.
Gone are the days when the information regarding a missing or overdue person was given by very worried friends. Perhaps even at daylight on the following day.

Anyway it looks as if the Ben Alder Bothy has been given a bit of a make over and even another section added on to the western end.
The only time that I have been there was in summer passing through on a day ride  from Dalwhinnie along the shore of Loch  Ericht and then down to Loch Rannoch and returned to Dalwhinnie via Craiganour and Loch Garry.
A different story on a warm Scottish summer day.
