clockwise is good because you end up at The Golden Rule in Ambleside.

I agree with Glyno  ;D O0

Golden Rule aside, I've done both and prefer clockwise. The path up Nab Scar gets the bulk of the climb done and dusted early and the path down Low Pike is much easier on the knees at the end of the route.

Ok cheers. Just wondering as most people seem to agree on clockwise but most guidebooks advise anti clockwise.

let's have a heated debate!

We will get into trouble and I'm a good girl!

I prefer anti clockwise because I find the route up from Nab Scar to Heron Pike a bit of a dull trudge going up it. But you can quickly rush down it to get it over quick on the descent.

And I don't have Glyno's drink problem so I don't have to finish at a pub  ;D

Anti clockwise. You get half of the ridge to yourself in the morning as most do it clockwise. Plus if you park at Rydal, you can come right off Nab Scar back to the car.
