There's a nicely illustrated article in today's Guardian about the Brocken spectre, specifically at Burley Moor above Leeds.

The subject has always interested me, particularly as I saw one of myself from Diffwys in the Rhinogs more than 30 years ago..

Some of those photos are wonderful too.
A night under silnylon. Doesn't have the same ring to it.

Generally the whole area would come under the banner of Ilkley Moor which stretches right across this whole southern side of the Wharfe Valley.
Yeadon & the airport are to the East and then moving Westwards are the towns/villages of Burley in Wharfedale, Otley & Ilkley.
There are probably plenty of people who have suffered from the valley mist delaying & cancelling flights but few who have had the pleasure of seeing a Brocken Spectre.
Only a hill but all of life to me, up there between the sunset and the sea.
