Hello everyone I'm lisa from Gloucester. Plan today was to go walking in Brecon but weather is awful. I'm new to hiking so any tips much appreciated :)

Welcome aboard from Manchester :)
Looks pretty grim around Brecon today but probably better than north-east of Manchester by all accounts!

Thank you vghikers :) yes it looks bad on the news and Sheffield too. I might take a casual walk later if the rain stops. My name is Lisa by the way. Nice to meet you.

Welcome from the Sussex coast :) I used to live not all that far from Gloucester and loved visiting the cathedral

Thanks Dovegirl and bigfoot_mike. I'm looking to come to Scotland in the new year so any places you'd recommend for walking would be great :)

Hi Lisa - welcome from South Cumbria.
Aviemore/Cairngorms would be my recommendation for Scotland; plenty of low level walking in the delightful Caledonian pine forests as well as the serious winter walking on the mountains.
