Title: The ultralight design weighs less than 1kg for only £26.99?
Post by: TheGUYuk on 23:14:11, 28/06/10

The Nevis 2 man is a perfect tent for the wandering backpacker.

The ultralight design weighs less than 1kg and is perfect for long camping trips.

The ultralight design weighs less than 1kg for only £26.99, free delivery, to good to be true?

Maybe they are using Dibbles scale where 1 mile = 3 miles then 1kg actually equals 3 kg in the real world  ;D

Saw this on another forum and posted this comparison:

TN LaserComp (1 man double skin) 0.9kg ~ £230
Nevis (2 man double(?) skin) 1kg ~ £27
Vango Helium 100 SL (1 man double skin) 1kg ~ £200
Vango Ultralite (1 man single skin) 1kg ~ £100
Gelert Solo (1 man double skin) 1.5kg ~ £25
Pro Action Hike Lite (1 man double skin) 2kg ~ £30

Too good to be true?

Good point and at the price you can't loose too much.  O0

I like the thought of these ...

• high quality pre-tensile fibreglass poles

Do they mean that the they hang upside down, using their feet to grip with ?  :-\

Well it says the weather proofing is 1500mm so that is the same as a Gelert solo. But this item is .5 lighter..
Also lighter if shorter than the Jamet Shelter Single Hoop Touring Tent.

Typical i only recently bought my £50 tent (normally 99.99) which is a 2kg tent but bought because at 6ft 1" i can fit in it..

I can fully see your point for the price Boothy : )

Looking at the design it doesn't appear to have any type of porch or protection for the entrance, in a decent bit of rain would you get saturated trying to open it first thing in the morning ?And your sleepng bag and contents too ?

How good would a hydrostatic head of 1500 mm be ? My Coleman Kraz weighs 1.6 kg, cost £40 from Ebay and has a hydrostatic head of 4000 mm.

Depends where and how you intend to use it but it does seem a bit of a summer bargain  O0

My one concern about the design was the fact the opening opens over the top of the bathtub. If it was raining you would find it difficult to keep the rain out of your sleeping area.

Yeah imagine opening it at night to get out for a slash in the pouring rain, only to find you may as well not bothered to get out to [censored], as all your kit is soaked.... that sums it up nicely.

Though, with the £200 you saved you could do something fancy.

Buy yourself a wide mouth water bottle... and stay in your sleeping bag...  8)

I wonder how long it will take before these start to appear brand new on flea-bay on a regular basis.
