TR Keswick to Grange Mon 11 Mar 19
« on: 18:35:33, 12/03/19 »
A day off work and an alright day except for strong winds. I stayed low, starting from Keswick toward Portinscale. I had brought my spikes but the fierce winds that were forecast at height didnt appeal, I'm not sure why I'd brought them!

Catbells, Hindscarth and Robinson

Causey Pike and Barrow from the path to Portinscale

Catbells from the path beside Lingholm

I was walking very fast, the bus had been 15 minutes late getting in to Keswick. I had a plan A and plan B. Plan A was to catch the 1pm bus at Grange if I walked fast enough to catch it, or plan B was to carry on walking all the way around and back to Keswick if I missed the bus or if I wanted a longer walk.

Blencathra from Brandlehow Woods

The shore path was busy so I used the other path from Hawes End that goes through Brandlehow Woods.

Brandlehow Woods

The footpath lead to Manesty, then I walked to Grange on the road. I still had the option to walk to Keswick but I'd got to Grange in time for the 1pm bus. I did the shorter walk and got home early. The route was Keswick - Portinscale - Fawe Park - Brandlehow Park - Manesty - Grange 9.3km with 164m ascent. I did walk fast, it took 1 hour and 48 minutes.

The fells are looking great with the snow on them.  A short walk on a day off sounds perfect.

Lovely pics April. A low level walk is better than no walk at all! :D

Another set of lovely pics, April - sometimes low level and looking up at the summits is the best way to view them, especially when they're dusted with snow.  O0

It's a lovely walk is that one April. It's a very good path and boardwalk around Derwent, which is one of Mrs J’s favorite walks. (she doesn't do hills) it’s easy walking for her back. And a great idea getting the bus back from Grange. One for us as a couple in the summer  O0

Walking is the world’s oldest exercise and today’s modern medicine.
