C2C
« on: 19:07:12, 28/06/19 »
Day 1 over, now at Ennerdale Bridge. Very hot and a diversion is in place around Dent Hill, tomorrow meant to be hotter still but planning on going to Red Pike and along the ridge to Haystacks rather than the traditional route  O0

The higher route is a fantastic option to take, just be sure to take plenty of fluids. And enjoy the steep descent down High Crag, a knee killer.  O0

Enjoy the walk.  O0
May borrow your gpx file for next year. So try not to deviate too much from the route. ;D ;D

So sorry to hear of your fall, that sounds absolutely dreadful  :(.  What can one say?. I can only wish you the very best for your upcoming op and recovery.

How dreadful, I trust that you will be on the mend before too long.  It just shows that no matter how experienced you are things can go wrong. I could have believed it of others, including me although I do take great care walking alone although even on my recent Camino walk I tripped over my shoelaces.  When I walked my C2C I had to go down from Scarth Gap to Buttermere as the wind was blowing me off my feet - "it could have been me springs to mind".

Really sorry to hear this news Jon, as harland said, it can happen to the most experienced of us, and I'd put you up there in that group of walkers. Such a shame, so early in your C2C crossing as well.

I remember taking a tumble not too far from there on ’High Stile’ in front of Domtheone and Rhino, I banged my head slightly, but was lucky to get away with it.

Jon, I can only wish you a speedy recovery mate and that the op goes well. Hopefully you'll have another go at the C2C sometime in the future. In the meantime, look after yourself  O0

Thoughts are with you. Ironic that you got back from the emergency services what you have put into it over the years.
Hope they fix it up good for you.
