New Years Day - Win Hill
« on: 13:03:42, 08/01/10 »
Being as all the snow had disappeared from Bakewell on New Years Day, I decided to find some elsewhere!
As I drove towards Hope, I could see the snowy 'Great Ridge' and the surrounding hills in the distance, all white and sparkling in the Winter sunshine.  What a gorgeous sight for the 1st of January!
My plan was to park in Hope and then climb Win Hill via the tiny hamlet of Aston (rather than do my usual route from Yorkshire Bridge.)

View from the path, just NE of Aston...

Moorland path towards Thornhill Carrs...

Snowy Heather...

Looking back at this just took my breath away...

Red Grouse...

Winhill Plantation...

Snowy path up Win Hill...

A distant Great Ridge & Kinder Scout from Win Hill...

Looking back at a stunning Win Hill...

Path back down towards Twitchill Farm...

Hope you enjoyed!

Tracey :)

Thanks so much for the nice comments guys :)   The Grouse had been following me for a while and kept running in front of me, from side to side across my path. They do that sort of thing in the Peaks! :D   He was virtually at my feet when I took the photo, giving me what for coz I was in 'his area'!

The same thing happened on Derwent Edge last Sunday!  Probably a different Grouse then though ;D

He must have found his whisky then and drunk most of it.  ;D
