I can't believe that I'm flying out on Friday to start this walk the next day, it still doesn't feel real. Excited would be a bit of an understatement  :)

Take lots of photos to share, was there room for the DSLR?

to be honest, I'm still in 2 minds about taking it. It would be a shame to miss out on some wonderful photos to look back on but even though it's a light DSLR, it's still weight that can be avoided by taking my usual camera which has taken most of my photos on here and on my website.

I'm thinking though with scenery like I'm going to have, it'll look good on any camera  O0

I'm looking forward to seeing the views as well. The bus ride in from Geneva was very scenic too.

Only been in Les Houches a few hours but it's still confusing me as they all drive on the wrong side of the road lol

4 days in and now relaxing in Courmayeur in Italy.

4 hot but not TOO hot days have meant beautiful scenery all around, and met some nice people along the way.

It has been a tough slog at times but the rewards are worth it.

Most definitely exceeding expectations, wish I had done this years ago.

It's tough going but the views are great rewards for the effort.

I love Alpine scenery, but have never done the TMB. It's very high on my "to do" list (I need to retire) coming just behind the Adlerweg in Austria, which I would love to do!  :)

Following this post with interest.  Have never thought about doing this before as thought it would be too high/difficult, but maybe not...

I would say that if you can do walks in the Lake District e.g then you can do the TMB. Yes, it's quite high up but then again you're starting every day usually higher up than Scafell Pike or Ben Nevis. The paths are all in good condition and the TMB is well signposted throughout. I just wish I'd done it 20 years ago.

I met many groups and individuals doing the walk of all shapes and sizes, including a group from the U.S. who were all over 69. It was a tough old slog at times but so are many of the walks here, the scenery is a great reward though for the effort and there are alternative routes on some days if you get a good weather day and want to go higher.

They have their own website (with English alternative) at http://www.autourdumontblanc.com/en/ which lists nearly all of the Refuges (Hostels) and gives the distances between them in hours making it easy to plan, many of which you can book online via that website. Some towns/villages also have Hotels if you prefer.

It's a cracking walk if you get the weather that I got and are physically fit enough to do bigger hills on multiple days, you can take optional rest days along the way in places like Courmayeur or Champex.

I'm having a few days off before I get my website updated with photos and a trip report etc
