Saturday's forecast was cloudy in the east with better visibility in the west. The weather conditions made a lower level walk in the western Mournes the logical option. Better a lower summit with a view than mist on a higher one. Starting from Leitrim lodge I picked up a good track in the direction of Altataggart, the first peak of the day. Branching of the path, I followed the Mourne wall to Altataggart as views opened up westwards. I continued along the wall to Tievedockaragh, the second summit of the day and an obvious extension. Unfortunately I had to traverse much marshy terrain to Pierces' castle in the next section of the walk. Upon reaching the castle, I picked up the good track back to my car. Total distance was 8km.
