As a final year university student in Nottingham, I lived in Cycle Road right opposite the Raleigh factory, which is now long gone.

Just received my new backpack. An Osprey Rook 50. I've been looking for an Osprey for some time and a deal came up on this new pack that was too good to refuse. Need to plan a hike and camp now...

Some Smidge (as per recent thread) and some aluminium tent pegs to replace two that I broke.
Too little, too late, too bad......

Last Thursday, the hottest day ever, I bought waterproof trousers and wellies.

I bought Berghaus Stormcloud Overtrousers and the Mountain Equipment Zeno. Haven't tried the overtrousers in the rain yet but I'm thrilled with the Zeno - finally a waterproof that I don't overheat in!

That lawn needs a trim!  Still, it provides an authentic environment to display the tent. Hope you get to enjoy it soon.

Looks rather like my vintage Robert Saunders Jetpacker!

Managed to pick up a Marmot Precip Eco jacket for £48. Just been out for a wander, hoping for some rain to try it out, but amazingly, no luck!

The Berghaus Stormcloud trousers were amazing very impressed they kept me dry through nearly 8 hours of almost constant rain and I didn't overheat or get sweaty.

Normal people sized (if you can call XXL normal) technical clothing is indeed far superior to that available in fat man sizes.

Two polyester baselayers from Mountain Warehouse in Aviemore - £7.99 & £9.99.

Rather cheaper than the £25-£35 offerings in the more upmarket shops, and I'm sure that they will do the job just the same.

I've used these "Isocool" base layers from Mountain Warehouse a few times now, including for running. Recommended.

So after reviewing every jacket possible on saturday i finally bought one, a Mountain Equipment Lhotse. A little more than i wanted to spend i originally had my eye on the ME Rupal jacket. Granted the Lhotse is probably a lot more advanced for what i will use it for but if its works and last me a good few years ill be more than happy with it.

Richard reckons the Lhotse is fantastic. I'm more than happy with my Mountain Equipment Zeno, considering they make the Lhoste too and charge considerably more for it I can only imagine how good it is...
