Title: Sock cuffs
Post by: athegn on 10:45:36, 25/07/19
During the growing season I have a great deal of trouble with seeds getting embedded in my socks. At end of day picking out seeds before washing. Even that does not stop seeds being left behind.

I have seen some people wearing shorts cuffs over their socks and top of boots. I have gaters but these are too much in hot weather.

Has any one a UK source of these items?

I think you are referring to ankle gaiters. Readily available if you google them.

Montane do these (https://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/equipment-c3/footwear-c78/gaiters-c37/montane-via-sock-it-gaiters-p6542). Be aware that they are not robust things, they are used by e.g runners on sandy trails, they won't stand up to ploughing through dense vegetation like heather etc.

I have a pair of Dirty Girl (https://www.ultramarathonrunningstore.com/Dirty-Girl-Gaiters-SHATTERED-PINK-p/dggshattpink.htm)s, similar design.

Edited to add:- yes, ankle gaiters if you want more toughness.

Erm, shouldn't that be in the 'When was the last time you did it?' thread?

Maybe  ;D
Not surprisingly they are very rarely seen in most walking terrain, but they are great for parts of coastal paths when walking on dry sand, anywhere there is fine gritty stuff they keep it out.

I know of a few people who have walked the PCT &/or the CDT wearing Dirty girl gaiters. I have a pair of inov8 gaiters similar design but quite warm.
