Blimey that is some xray!

Herman Munster but the opposite angle for the bolt.  Dont even want to imagine the worries that treatment would have brought on.  Fair play to the lad for carrying on  O0

Eric, yes mate, i'll be there boots all blacked up ready and willing.
Radiation all finished, shaking that off nicely.

Im not sure about that,
Most of us could not contemplate running continuously, for up to 100miles and beyond.

What about the mental race, Last Man Standing, or the Back Yard Ultra, held in Southern America.

Competitors have to run a four mile loop, in around one hour.

That sounds easy enough, except you have to continue doing that four mile loop, until you cannot physically do any more, or move your legs.

Many of the competitors can be seen being carried away on stretchers, totally spent, having no energy to move their bodies.

The record distance was set fairly recently, of just over four hundred miles, of continuous running, lap after lap of this four mile loop.

The majority of the competitors seem to be wearing Hokas, for the cushioning they provide, so i suppose its all down to personal preference.

The thing ive found with Hokas, is their almost slipper like comfort, right out of the box, with their almost ridiculously large midsole, for support and comfort over long distances.

There must be something about them, that makes them a very popular shoe over other competitors, but at well over £150 a pair, their a bit too strong for my taste.

Hello Dave and Fred
Glad you had a Fab weekend in Manchester  ;)
And a Big Cheers and Congrats to Fred  ;) Well done on Completing
And Running the Manchester Marathon .
And Obtaining a Medal
I Think 5 hours to complete the Run was Excellent ........
Considering conditions where Very Windy and changeable
That would have Slowed the Runners down .
It was a Memorable Day for you Both .
As You enjoyed Man United Ground Old Trafford .
Nice venue for the Start .
Then you had your walk Around Manchester
And the running route .
Exploring all .
And you did all those miles .
I lived in Manchester many years ago .
I'm still an Ex Manc
And know all the Route roads and places on the course
So Reading your review
Took me back down Memory Lane .
Very Enjoyable Read
I'm Glad you both enjoyed yourselves  O0

...there must be something in their overall design, that ultra distance runners like.

Something like free footwear from their sponsors perhaps  :D

Well done, Fred. It was pretty cold in the wind in the Peak District on Sunday but at least it didn't rain. I work about half a mile east of Queen's Road tram stop and never realised there was a hotel there (I pass by on occasional visits to the Fort shopping centre).

Google Street View view from Queens Road of the Niu Loom Hotel.  :)

Apart from a couple of niggles, we thought it was pretty good!  O0

Fred says thanks VG and snaderson.  :)

A Mandarin duck on the Worcester & Birmingham canal, Barnt Green, South Birmingham.

This gorgeous Heron was going fishing further along the canal.

It was a blissful morning.   O0

I can only say, that every video ive watched, on the crazy ultra distance races, mostly i America, most of the competitors appear to be wearing Hokas.

Ive tried on a few pairs, and their incredibly comfortable, with their outsole, offering incredible cushioning, which a lot of the competition does not seem to offer.

There are many competitors, Salomon, Inov 8, and im sure many others, but its the extreme outsole, that im sure offers superior cushioning over long distances.

I may be wrong, but comfort is everything over crazy long distance races, and i see many of the serious runners wearing Hokas, so there must be something in their overall design, that ultra distance runners like.
