Hi everyone. My son is travelling to Ecuador in a couple of weeks for 10 days on a charity thing with his colleagues and has asked my advice on rucksacks, so thought people on here might be able to give some useful input.

He won't need to carry it for long periods and doesn't need to carry any camping gear. Essentially it is to use instead of a suitcase.

So any suggestions of size?

Any points to watch out for?

He is hoping to buy online, so any recommended sites? (He is aware that body length and fit varies  but is living in west London so rather limited to get anywhere to buy something).

Or any suggested outlets in W London?

Is there a problem with having a pack that is bigger than the amount of gear you are taking for this sort of use?

Any recommended brands or brands to avoid ( he is unlikely to ever use it for back packing proper)

Any observations or experience would be gratefully received and passed on.

Thanks in advance, guys.

If it is a replacement for a suitcase then this might do. Also has rucksack straps.
