Is this site genuine?
« on: 14:21:41, 15/03/18 »

Does anyone know if the below site is genuine?
I've recently won some Altberg Pathfinder Trail's on ebay recetnly very cheap. Unlikely I'll get another set for that price. I am looking for another decent set of walking shoes, for light trail and urban.
I like the look of the Lowa Taurus for £55. Though this store has every size in stock, which makes me suspect. In reality, if the product has been lowered, no online store rarely has stock in all sizes?

Just wondering if it is a scam site?

I'm always suspicious if a sites contact details don't include a phone number or address, and they seem to have neither ... I'd avoid  O0

Fake.
There is no address or phone number.
Their site is full of brands I've never heard of that you wouldn't expect fdrom a UK site.
There are no reviews of such a seller.
There was a site for a language school called islebristol.co.uk whose domain expired in 2013.

Cheers.
Just looked a bit too good to be true. Along with the no contact details. No shop online ever, has complete stock of everything!

the website details, including the registrants address are available using a "whois" search, though they could be fake.

Anyway, the website's only registered for a year, the website name has nothing at all to do with the products on sale which to me sounds like a scam site who just purchased a cheap domain name. The dodgy English on some of the pages just makes it certain.

Yet some people will still believe it's genuine and fall for it  ::)

Does anyone know of a way of reporting such sites? I've not found one.

I was caught on such a site a couple of years ago, Chinese pretending to be in US, I paid £160 for a branded down jacket that never materialised. Got my money back from my card company eventually.

That site is very odd.  Spelling errors. No adverts anywhere. No contact details unless you give them info about yourself.

I put a fake order through and the only payment method appeared to be Visa.    So they would get a large chunk of your card details from that.

No details any where I searched on Google about the company.

I would not use it.

Any site that doesn't have the padlock symbol, and https// before the web address, avoid.

These are the basics of spotting a dodgy site, that's trying to sell things.

Where is the contact address if you need to return items.
The website looks a little too basic to be genuine, but i might be wrong.

Every time i visit a new website, i alway's check just where the company is based, here in the Uk or abroad.

Ive encountered several companies, particularly on ebay, that call themselves such a such Uk Ltd , only to find after much searching, that their usually based in the far East or China.

Before i order anything from a new advertised company, i want to know where they are.

If i cannot find a contact address, hopefully with a contact number, i do not buy from them.

Let's not forget, there are now well over 1 Billion separate website companies,  the chances of many of those being bogus, is pretty high.

Before you part with your money or card details, spend several minutes exploring the website and the background details.

If thereis no contact address, ask your self why.

The website I mentioned it reminded me when MS Frontpage 2000 came out. It was so basic, it was unreal, so became suspect.
Also, the fact everything was in stock a dead giveaway. Try getting stock nowadays in your exact size. I often get disappointed, in no stock available.
Always worth checking a few details out as stated.
Thanks

What, like the Walking Forum?  :D

(It's already been discussed in the Hikers Bar.)

If you actually read my post properly, it says "that's trying to sell things".

As far as I'm aware this site doesn't accept payments!
