I was wondering if anyone else has heard the name 'Puckering Cosh' to describe a finger post?. I have been told that it may be of Romany or Gypsy origin.Can anyone add more?. Such a great description, one we should use.

Interesting that - No I've never heard that, and if you google the phrase it leads to Romany / Gypsy threads which haven't really helped. I DID find this though which I feel is probably something in the right direction (No pun intended
)
Puckering

My thought was that maybe 'Puckering ' meant pointing and 'Cosh' meant stick.Just trying to find out more.

Look up 'pooker' and 'kosht' in this English Romany dictionary
