GPS Walking Routes; Do you record yours?
« on: 16:03:22, 06/08/07 »
Hi All,
I'm in the process of adding a 'Members' Section' to my 'UK GPS
Walking Resources' Website <http://www.haroldstreet.org.uk/members/ [nofollow]>
with the aim that you can upload your own routes and waypoints, to
share with others.

So if you do record your walk routes with a GPS; would consider
helping me test the 'beta' version of my site. Partly so that i know
it works OK, and partly so its not just an empty site when it goes
live.

If you are interested in helping;
* your routes MUST be in GPX format

* you'll need to set up a member's account at...
<http://www.haroldstreet.org.uk/members/register.php [nofollow]>

* then log-in and upload your files!

I'd really appreciate any 'constructive' feedback via the email
address that supplies your password (to avoid me being spammed to
death here)

Thanks in advance
yours

phil

Phil,

I have the Coast to Coast route including the high and low alternatives ie St Sunday Crag and Haystacks,  downloaded into memory map, and also some hill walks on the Isle of Man, if your site tells me how to do it I will sent them to you.

Thanks that's exactly the kind of thing i need;

i hope the site is intuative.
First you need to export the file from Memory Map into GPX format and save it on your PC where you can find it.

Then set up a member account on my site, it will email you a password and you can log in to the members area

Click on the Add File link and give the details of your walk and the location of the GPX file you saved in part one. Click Upload

It should appear on the site!

If you have problems get back to me via the email address suppiled with your password.
Cheers & Thanks

phil

Thanks to all who've helped me in adding to and testing the new 'Members Section' of my 'UK GPS Walking Resource' Website http://www.haroldstreet.org.uk/ [nofollow]
Particular thanks to Terapin & Gigha for their interesting routes and detailed feedback.

More content is still needed, so if you are interested - please register for your free account from http://www.haroldstreet.org.uk/members/ [nofollow], log in, and upload your own GPX routes.

Cheers  :)
