If I recall correctly, the wrapper of the compressed dates was a nightmare to get off and your fingers stayed sticky for the rest of the day.

Why pollute good spring water?
I think you will find that single malt whisky is spring water perfected  :) . The best spring water can be found on Islay.

Yes, that's right!
Tt was very thin cellophane  which stuck to the block, and disintegrated as you tried to unwrap it
We did our best, but the fact that it was so thin, and transparent, and stuck so tightly meant that we almost certainly swallowed some of the wrapper as well

Kendal Mint Cake !.   I'd rather chew on my own arm than eat that stuff.  Serves no earthly purpose whatsoever.  But....  I do keep the smallest bar it is possible to get in the bottom of my 'emergency pack', just in case.....
I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake.

Yes. Nothing staves off hunger better than the thought of having to eat KMC!

Knowing we are walkers people have sometimes brought us KMC back from a holiday in Cumbria!  :-[  When I first started walking back in my early 20’s I did think that KMC was what you should eat! Now some Grasmere gingerbread, that would be nice.  :)

A bag of Jelly babies as a reward for reaching the top and either Trek flapjacks or Walkers Sensations sweet chilli coated peanuts...Not so odd I reckon.

Nothing unusual I'm afraid. Some kind of Oaty flapjack sort of thing, maybe a pepperami style meat product. If I'm walking to somewhere like a castle to spend some time there then maybe a sandwich and some fruit as well.
