Ok so thought this may be worth a shot to see if we can get any interest in something a little different. Maybe a bit arty for some/all but we shall see.
Take a picture or post a picture that represents a feeling for you.
Can be anything just add a little blurb about why you choose the shot and what it represents for you.
-
I shall get the ball rolling and see if anyone follows.

One of the joys of mountain walking for me is the ability to disconnect yourself from the normal everyday dramas of life and just be.
No bills, no time scale except available light just you and your environment, to be Content
-
I love this photo but it is a bit dark ish for me ... :o I cannot see the BLISS of being in the mountains ... but great work anyway O0 and a big challenge for photographers ::)
-
Love it Willowisp O0

Here's one I took whilst out walking with my dogs around some of our local meadows. Let's call it Tranquility. :)

I love your photo Mal Firth O0

and yes satisfaction indeed Mick! O0 O0 O0

Cheers for joining in Mick and I can only imagine the satisfaction you must of felt after that challenge. Nice pic
-
Quite difficult, this.
It would be very easy to chuck up a half-decent shot and throw a suitable feeling in after it, but that's not what this is about.
So, after much deliberation:

Love.

Nice one Joe.
Nice to see you are not carrying them in this pic :)
Quite impressed that we now have a few posts on this. I had a feeling it would flop. Cheers everyone.
Its nice to have a story/feeling behind a picture, it gives the picture another dimension.

Thanks for that but I’m still working on the inspirational bit, the photo was taken on Clennell Hill with Silverton hill in the back ground. (Northumberland)

I like the subect. Its amazing what can be done with photos, how they can tell a story, set a mod or many things.
However, Mick, yours is definately one to be proud. O0

No, just don’t have any/many members yet , no one loves us up here, :( it could be that half of Northumberland still hasn’t got electricity or running water for that matter :-\ :-\ ,last time I was out in the wilds most of the locals hadn’t even heard of this internet thingy :P but it’s a local forum and can only grow . Fully agree. O0
This is a great thread. It's all well and good going out and taking some super landscape shots but to produce photos like we have already seen takes a bit of thought. I look forward to keeping an eye on this thread. Who knows, a magazine may even pinch the idea ;)

I am sure something like this will of been done somewhere already but I am glad you are all enjoying it and that we have some participation

took whilst climbing up Scafell, had a play with the colour!
-
Good idea for a thread this but very hard to choose a photo. Lots of photos are just that, but others kind of transcend just being a 'photo' because there is a 'special' feeling or memory attached to them. I guess that's what this thread is all about so I have chosen the one attached. It was taken on a glorious day after a walk up to Alcock Tarn. I sat eating my lunch and looked down over Grasmere. I had never been to this area before and it blew me away. It was like looking at 'perfection' and since then Grasmere has become one of my favourites places, not just in The Lakes, but anywhere.

Mick - Good work, you might not think so but it is inspirational. Sorry fellabut i'm not gonna back down on this one!! ;D
NVL35 - Quality and trouble me thinks - thanks, made me smile :) Little un is trouble with a capital 'TR'!
Geeezer2005 - quality photo - loving that one. However, no matter how pretty you make scarfell look, still fills me with dread!!! ;)
As has been said already, top thread! More like this please.

As a feeling - Tranquility. However my over-riding feeling at the time was "a perfect moment". Inominate Tarn, usually thronged had me and walking bud, one guy with a camera and two young men reading the wainwright guide. A perfect moment that I've never forgotten.

Earlier this year I was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time and witnessed one of the best cloud inversions I have ever seen.

Here's two ;
Melancholy - abandoned tracks in Noah Dale:
and Awe - being perched on the edge of the scarp slope of Boulsworth Hill by the Abbot Stone looking out across the hills and dales, feeling like a fly on a wall - a tiny observer. Hard to put into words :-\

Two offerings:
Frustration!
"Damn, that's the last helicopter from Sedbergh back to Leeds-Bradford. Never make it to t'pie shop now!"
And on a more serious note.......
Is this joy? Or perhaps disbelief?
"Are WE really HERE on a day like THIS!?!?"
-
I love this joy and/or disbelief Paul! O0
-
Both bliss and satisfaction. I was not able to make a walk from Kentmere village (where my uncle lived) to Kentmere Reservoir and back due to many health problems for several years ............ and finally I made it!

Brilliant! Impossible to look at that one without a big grin :) :) :)

Mick it's from a few weeks ago in Coigach - on Beinn an Eoin looking over Stac Pollaidh and the NW coast out to the Hebrides - absolutely awesome place. The day started claggy and we just couldn't believe how glorious it turned out. The sight of the four of them just rooted to the spot because of the awesomeness of it all was brilliant!

. The sight of the four of them just rooted to the spot because of the awesomeness of it all was brilliant!
Yes I can see that,
sadly it’s not the place I was thinking of as I have never been there.
Breathtaking photo I think it captures why we all go out there into the hills. Thank you. O0

Three peaceful places.
The River Wye as it flows beneath Great Shacklow Woods, a few miles from the village of Ashford in the Water near Bakewell.
A mile or so farther upstream on the River Wye is this footbridge in a delightful part of Monsal Dale (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsal_Dale) known as Upperdale.
In a secluded setting amongst the trees beneath Raven’s Crag, and deep in the heart of Cressbrook Dale (http://www.peakdistrictview.com/?page=place&placeid=1371) are two tiny rows of former lead miners cottages known as Ravensdale Cottages.

Mal, super photos. I particularly like the reflections on the first one with the wier.
-
Took this one last week, sums up the lakes for me - 'Awe'. Ullswater.
-
'Awe'
Beautiful!
Awe is something that is sadly missing from a lot of lives in our world - one element of this lack is that most of us rarely get to see a really dark star-studded sky and feel how BIG the universe is!
I think we walkers get to experience awe quite a bit and it's part of what drives us to keep getting out there.
Thanks for sharing. O0
-
I really love this thread, such a variety of experiences and points of views ... each and every photo brings something unique and as it is with all unique deep experiences, they touch one's heart... Great photos everybody and thank you for sharing O0

Pride (and thankfully it did not come before a fall!) - my wife, with arms so short I swear she's descended from a T. Rex and legs that barely reach the floor, despatching main gully on Bristly Ridge, after coming over Tryfan via the north ridge. I think, cm for cm, she's a far better scrambler than I am! She's fab. 8)
-
Another of my peaceful places, taken this afternoon during a very, VERY leisurely stroll through Roddlesworth Woods. I find it so relaxing to be in these woods that I could sit for hours by the river, just listening to the water flowing by and the birds singing in the trees. O0

Some brilliant shots on this thread folks, apologies it's taken me a while to add my offering, but works been keeping busy recently!
Anyhow, here's one from me, taken towards the end of last year, on a lovely autumn afternoon when we sat up on the lower slopes of Gowbarrow Fell watching an inversion starting to develop over Ullswater. Couldn't think of a nicer spot to spend a couple of hours watching the world go by! ... 8)

There have been some awesome photos in this thread and I've been wondering what to post.
For me, one of the best things when out walking has to be that feeling you get as the whole landscape opens out inviting you to walk through it...the sheer sense of open space.

That's fabulous, Al. O0 People talk about "Big Skies" which is daft in a way, cos the sky is the sky, but your picture shows how wide and deep coastal landscapes can look - I love that sense of space invitingness too!

Working nightshift isn't great, but then again you usually get sunset and sunrise.
Sunrise for me is always a feeling of freshness.

Taken on 24th July 2011, while completing the National 3-peaks Challenge.
As i crested Hollow Stones, the sun poked it's head above Great End with dramatic effect and vibrant colours throughout most of the spectrum that the photo does not do service to.
Low patchy cloudy whisping around the mountains gave a wonderful feeling of height and calm.
I call it "Mornings Glory"

Can I add this one to the terrific selection we've seen so far.
View of the Kinder Plateau in the Derbyshire Peak District, taken near the junction of two paths in an area called Bridge-End Pasture above the Ladybower Reservoir. It was taken a few years agoon my first 15ml walk and for me it exemplifies the idea of wide open spaces.
