Off out again for more wind this time with a few showers added for good measure. I got the bus to Brampton and started walking up Gelt Road. When I got to Capon Tree Road it started raining. It was windy but not that strong.

In Gelt Woods
The rain was a bit start and stop and didnt amount to much. There were sunny spells, not a bad day really. At Low Gelt I went on the footpath by the quarry. The last time Beefy and myself came this way we had to fight through overgrown gorse. Not this time, the gorse has been cut back and the footpath is clear thank goodness.
The path by Priest's Wood
It was very muddy underfoot, squelch, squelch, squelch!

I wasn't going that way, I crossed over on the way to Greenwell.
Sunlight on the trees near Greenwell
Lots more mud here!
The River Gelt near Middle Gelt Bridge
It is quite full and flowing fast at the minute. I was walking fast, I'd thought I would get the walk done in 2 hours but I had changed the route en route so it was a mile and a bit longer than I'd planned. I'd been walking for nearly 2 hours and I was ready for a break. I sat down on the first bench in Gelt Woods and had a brew and some food. I still had about 2.5 miles to go. 2 hours was a bit over ambitious
The River Gelt
On my way again, the river was roaring along here.
A tributary into the Gelt
There were a few fallen trees about, probably due to the strong winds of the last week.
Climbing up to the bridleway back to Capon Tree Road
A look at the time made me walk faster. I should catch the 4.20 bus. I'd mentioned to Beefy I would be on the 3.11 or 3.41 bus!

I made it to Brampton in time for the bus. I'd enjoyed the walk. The route was Brampton - Gelt Road - Capon Tree Road - Gelt Woods - Low Gelt - Priest's Wood - Greenwell - Middle Gelt - Gelt Woods - Capon Tree Road - Gelt Road - Brampton 14.9km with 200m ascent. It was 2 hours and 45 minutes walking time. I averaged 3.4 mph but I felt I'd walked faster than that
All in all it hasn't been that bad for weather this week after all. I've not got too wet or too blown about.
