Where to go for first camping in Peak District
« on: 11:21:56, 16/07/17 »
Hello, I have just worked out my partner and I with the pooch can get away for four days in Aug, we are thinking about going to Lake District again but a shorter trip would help on this trip, so I am looking for some good advice on where to go for the following, this would be my/our first trip to the Peak District.

1. We would be camping and have our dog with us
2. Looking for somewhere with a great couple of walks with great scenery but nothing too high or exposed as my partner isn't' great with heights, especially when she can see a sheer drop!
3. A nice local town to visit where we can get a nice lunch or diner

I think that would cover everything so any suggestions would be most helpful.

Thanks,
Nick

Fieldhead campsite in Edale
Same price as coopers but flatter pitches smaller site quieter and last time I was there better facilities and dog friendly
Coopers is on a sloping field
Both sites close to pubs
Bank holidays coopers crams as many on as possible fieldhead has restricted numbers
 8)
Leave only footprints, take only photographs, kill only time ...

Agree Fieldhead is better option than Coopers although both get very busy in summer.  Can't book at Coopers and minimum bookings on Bank holiday weekends.

But then there are many places to visit in the Peak District, Buxton, Bakewell, Tissington, Monsal Trail, Moneyash to name but a few......

this trip, I am very keen on Snowdonia national park, Peak District and the Lake District. Brecon Beacons is closest to me, but that will be ideal for weekends with my cousin as he is based at Oxford so can set off from his on a Friday afternoon and have a good weekend there.

Not been to Snowdonia or Peak District so very keen to try either, although I have so fallen in love with the Lake District.

My first thought was Coopers at Edale, as it has bigger fields for a dog
