Bird pictures
« on: 08:16:54, 28/02/09 »
After seeing GaryR's great shot of a Red Grouse, Ian S picture of a Ptarmigan, Kidsty Pike's pheasant - I thought that there must be a lot of pictures out there of lots of British birds taken while out walking. So to start the ball rolling, here are a few I snapped last year.

Having had lots of cold weather recently I suppose we will get a few pictures of Blue Tits - no snickering at the back :o ::)

I think this was a Redstart down in Dorset

and this was the Buzzard that was watching it

This fat little fella was sunbathing - all taken on the same day

Further North on Loch Lomond I was lucky to get these of some Barnacle Geese

Great pictures, the goose looks as if it is on a mirror.  O0 Do you have an all singing all dancing high spec camera?

Thanks folks - but I just happened to be in the right place a few times. The 18x zoom makes it easier to get closer but it's not a high spec camera - mostly point and zoom. I wonder how many different birdie shots we will get on here?

I found a particularly tame Robin that seemed quite happy to sit on a post while i photographed it.

Lovely picture Matt - aren't Robins great - just sit down and pretty soon they are nosy enough to come and have a look.

Eva - I use an Olympus SP560UZ which has loads of functions, the best known one being Auto!! I haven't tried all the different programmes yet, too busy looking at other things when out walking. I have to have a steady hand when using the full zoom and it doesn't pick up all the detail either. But it's easy to use and not too heavy or bulky.
