No camping for us at the weekend, the weather forecast was for heavy rain and lots of it after 12pm on Saturday with the risk of flooding. We had a bimble from Keswick along the shore path toward Cat Gill.
Catbells and Causey Pike from the Keswick Boat Landings
It was quite nice weather, better than we expected, no rain and light winds with mist in places, enhancing the photos. There were very few people about at 9.30, we were surprised we thought it would be busy.
Causey Pike and Barrow
Across Derwent Water to Walla Crag and Falcon Crag
The swan put its head in the water when I took the shot, typical!
More mist on Catbells flanks
This swan was better behaved and stayed upright.
Castle Crag and boat on the lake
There were more people in boats, canoes and kayaks on the lake than people walking on the shore.
Catbells, Causey Pike and some ducks
The ducks kept us company during our lunch. We'd stopped here and had a brew and some food before returning to Keswick for our bus. We realised all the people had just come late, it was really busy on the way back. Shame the latecomers had missed the best weather. It had started raining just after 12 just like the forecast said. Our bus was late due to the traffic build up, getting in and out of Keswick was difficult. A wonder it was so busy with the weather forecast. Our walk was about six miles from the bus station - Hope Park - shore path - Cat Gill lunch spot and return. A pretty good morning walk and we didn't get wet
No photos from Sunday, we did a six miler in Bitts Park and Rickerby Park along the River Eden after I ordered myself a bike in town from Halfords (nice staff, very helpful
). If I can manage to stay upright on it (
) I am hoping to be able to cycle to work and back. I moved work location in May and using the bus service it is taking about one hour and 5 minutes to get to work and one hour and 20 minutes to get back, even more if the traffic is bad. On a bike it will take me 35 minutes each way. Unless I keep falling off it
There are shared use pavements most of the way so I won't be affected by traffic jams. I am getting the bike on Friday and if I get enough practise on it I will be cycling to work next week.
