Just a few pics from last weekends jaunts with friends, close to where I live.

A rainy start meant no pics till we were warm and dry in the pub (The Three Horseshoes, Batcombe), where we were able to toast ourselves and our damp gloves in front of the fire.

Glyders and Flowerpot larking about near Bruton.

Approaching Bruton at dusk, and a view of the pagan Spiral of Light event.

The spiral of light at Bruton Dovecot

We walked about 9 miles and narrowly avoided getting shot by the shoot, got rained upon, hailed upon, boots mudded upon and narrowly avoided getting run over by the shoot.

On Sunday we walked around the Stourhead Estate, about 5 miles, in chilly but fine weather. We got shouted at by a member of the NT 'friendly team of volunteers' because we had walked past an imaginary route closed sign, on an imaginary footpath, apparently. We are just such a bunch of rebels! ;D

As you can see, these three were traumatised by the shouty woman. ::)

Very funny write up  ;D  These 'shoot' peeps are a bit dangerous, trying to shoot folk and then if that doesn't work try run them over  :o

I can see you were all very traumatised  ;D  Nice pics  O0

LMOOH, you'd have loved both days  - it was such a laugh, especially standing in road, in the hail, with Glyders trying to photograph the shoot as they were heading to the pub with their little waggon of pheasants.  ;D

What can I say, that was such a wonderful and chilled weekend spent with the best people!  I wasn't well over the weekend but I couldn't have been ill in a better place.  ;D  Especially with Mr A doing such a grand job of looking after us!
It's a shame you couldn't make it LMOOH. I guess we'll have to do it again!  O0
Thanks for your hospitality and taking us on those lovely walks.  I expect Mrs Jobsworth is still seething now  ;D
I'll get my act together and add some pictures  ;)

Did you walk around the back, along the row of beech trees and back down the hill, around the lake and out through the entrance to the pub, thus avoiding the entrance fee!

There you go! Sorry it took so long, I been a bit busy!  :D

Great company and you've already got a good walk O0

No escaping that mud!

Some landlords are most helpful. It was meant for the people on the shoot but as they hadn't arrived yet and as he had dragged us into the pub by the collar, we felt obliged to use it!

It's a bit hard to leave a pub as cosy as this.

Getting dark and nearly at Bruton in time for the lights

Bruton's Spiral of Light as we come over the hill

Sunday's walk at Stourhead
St Alfred's Tower

This marks the boundries of three counties of Somerset, Wiltshire and....... nope, sorry alewife, I've forgotten the other one!

Superb view from our lunch stop

Through the avenue

A lovely welcome on our return, thanks to Mr A!  :)

Thanks to Mr and Mrs A for a lovely weekend!  O0
