Visions of Cumbria

A trip out to Bowness and then to the NT Fell Foot Park at Fell Foot near Newby Bridge yesterday. A rather wet and dull day at Bowness but it did brighten a little at Fell Foot. There are some pictures in the "Visions of Cumbria" section for those interested.

Regards,

Dave

Visions of Cumbria

We have had the two eldest grandaughters to stay over the weekend and were hoping to take them for a walk with us. However the weather conspired against us and so no walking!!!!
However it gave me the opportunity to update the "Visions of Cumbria" section with two new entries. The first, from around the Keswick/Derwentwater area are my own pictures and the second are some pictures sent in by a a regular website visitor of a walk in the Rusland valley in the south of the county including a visit to Rusland Church where the author Arthur Ransome of "Swallows and Amazon" fame is buried. Pictures are now available for those wishing to view.

Dave

No walk I'm afraid yesterday as I was feeling a wee bit under the weather. We did however catch up with a bit of shopping that had been long overdue. First it was to a rather damp but still quite busy Bowness where after a walk around Cockshott Point we visited "Love the Lakes". Unfortunately Sean was out with Casper but we did meet Louise. From Bowness we nipped up the road to Ambleside where whilst Edith went for a new pair of boots I had a quick walk up to Stockghyll Force. The pictures are now available, located in the "Visions of Cumbria" section of the website.

21st August 2008

These pictures are from a "touristy" afternoon on Thursday. Apologies for the delay in posting, after a fantastic day walking on Friday I had a really severe "flare up" of the Rheumatoid Arthritis which meant no keyboard work. Edith as done a lot of the work on the presentation therefore not as much info as normal.
For those wishing to view the pictures are now on the website.

1st September 2008

On Monday morning after an early morning visit to the doctors for my regular "blood letting" we took delivery of the new car. When the weather started to brighten around 11:15am I decided it was time to introduce said car to the delights of Lakeland with a run over the Kirkstone Pass to Glenridding. Along the way I took a few pictures which are now located in the "Visions of Cumbria" section of the website for those wishing to view.

Ennerdale Holiday.

The weather forecast for today wasn't that brilliant and as we set off for Ennerdale the sky was threatening. However in the main it did stay dry until we arrived so we were able to stop off at Silecroft and Ravenglass on our way for two short walks the pictures of which are now on the website located in the "Visions of Cumbria" section.

I have just put a few pictures on the website in which I tried to capture the different moods of the valley as I had a short walk each morning before breakfast.

The return from Ennerdale
12th September 2008

The return from Ennerdale took us to the quiet western road around Thirlmere from where on a still, murky morning I managed to get a few reflections in Thirlmere. It was then to Low Sizergh Barn in the south of the county where I had a walk around the "Farm Trail" whilst Edith perused the many offerings in the shop.
Pictures for those wishing to view are now in the "Visions of Cumbria" section of the website.

We had originally gone to Staveley to do Reston Scar & Hugill Fell but a communication mix-up resulted in us forgetting the waterproof jackets. Not wanting to waste the trip up we decided on a short walk around Staveley followed by a trip to Bowness amd then to Fell Foot Park.
The pictures for those wishing to view are located in the "VISIONS OF CUMBRIA" section of the website.

Lake District (SE)
Wainwrights Outlying Fells
School Knott

A short while back I published a walk and pictures of what I consider to be the best way up School Knott. However a while back we walked there from the A591 just north of the Plumgarth roundabout near Kendal. These pictures are from some readers who did the walk recently. They are located in the Visions of Cumbria section of the website.

Dave
