I have booked a weeks holiday down that way later on this year , I really fancy having a go at a section of the walk , or better still  splitting it into two walks if that’s possible ?.

Hi Mick,

Yes,that's possible.  I'll send you the routes via PM asap.
Just to warn you that some of the tracks we used are quite steep and are strewn with small/medium loose stones, so makes the descents a bit tricky in places.   Are you OK with that sort of terrain?

Tracey :)

Enjoyed the pics. Thanks for the effort putting them on line Tracey. Sounds like you are getting back into full operational mode. Must stir myself to get over into the Peak District this autumn.

Thanks altirando. Yes, I'm fit and raring to go!  I just need more people to go with! LOL

Get in touch if you fancy some company in the Autumn.

Thank you that’s most kind. O0

I do have problems with loose stone, but I have found out that if I scream when I am bouncing down the hill it doesn’t hurt so much. ::) ::)
Thank you for the warning all I can do is try, and I have found out once I get up there I have no choice but to come down.
That is why I love looking at the photos they show me so much and what it is like.

So in a month or so if you feel the ground shake one afternoon you know its just me on the way down. :D
many thanks .......Mick

Not fit enough for the 28 mile circuit at the moment Tracey - took me all afternoon and a chunk of the evening when I did it - but a stroll in the Western Peak area, Roaches etc, would be enjoyable when the heather is in bloom. I do have the Peak panorama book I promised you in a different persona if I can persuade myself to part with it. Say hello to Bakewell for me - I lived up past the church and then down near the river past the park in some new houses.

DING!!!  All becomes clear now.  The penny has dropped! LOL  Welcome to the forum O0

A walk around the Roaches would be good and you really don't have to part with your book! ;)
I'll bring some Bakewell Pud for pud! :D

Hi Tracey,

Im looking to do this walk in Summer, been dying to do Alport Castle.. was wondering whether to do it starting from Dr's Gate in Glossop and then walking down to Hope via the Reservoirs.

Or whether to do as you have done but the extra mileage to Hope and back...

Anyhoo, decision decisions...

Makes me yearn for Summer and greenery and long days and heat and Sunshine... xxx

I know what you mean Di.....although it's a tough walk on a hot day!  Sounds like you'll cover a few more miles than I did, which ever route you choose!

Max......Thanks for the comments.  I'm hoping to suggest this walk as a forum meet at some point during the Spring/Summer. 8)

Tracey :)

Edited just to add a bit of info, if anyone's interested!........

Margery Hill is actually the highest point in South Yorkshire, although still within the Peak District!
