Alport Castles and Bleaklow
« on: 23:18:03, 02/04/09 »
Thought I would share with you a tough 16 mile walk I did round Bleaklow today.
Thought I take a couple of days off work with good weather given and before the easter holidays rush.

Alport Castles

Moorland near the trig point of Westend Moor

By time I had reached Bleaklow stones the sun came out

From bleaklow Stones I made my way to the 2066 feet summit of Bleaklow Head

From where I made a short detour to the Wain Stones ( the kiss)

And a close up

From Bleaklow Head I followed the pennine way briefly before aiming for Over wood Moss offering stunning views towards Alport Dale

from Bleaklow I had been walking in warm sunshine but as I neared Cowms Rocks the mist started rolling in. Looking towards Kinder Scout

looking towards Oyster Clough

The last three are looking towards kinder scout as the mist came down

A great day out but after 16 mile, 7 hours walking and 2500 feet of ascent my legs are very stiff  :-[ Hope you enjoy

Mark
