TV Programme - Climbing Blind

Well I got a letter, saying one of my devices had been used with the iPlayer.
It was all a surprise to me as I have not had a TV for nearly 30 years.

Standard letters they send to addresses with no license. Scare tactics. Agree it's not nice but ignore them. They are not tracking your device, they are fishing


If they scare 1 in 1000 people into getting a license the letters pay for themselves.

I don't think I have ever used that word before but aye, awesome. Molly is equally as brave because she is climbing blind too, in a way, trusting the protection placed by the lead climber.

She was putting total trust in his ropework. She couldn't see what he'd put in, yet had to go with it and hope. Amazing confidence.

Yes, an amazing couple.  We noticed how calm, almost laid back, Molly seemed, in a situation where I would be absolutely terrified at all times.  Even Mrs pdstsp loved the programme - and she wouldn't venture within 50 metres of the cliff when we visited the Old Man a few years ago she is so scared of heights.

The cameraman had an interesting dilemma, of whether he helped Jesse or not. But I would have thought they would have had that discussion before they started? I don't think it takes anything away from the challenge and it could be the difference between life and death.  Am so glad he did warn him about the big gull, that would of been a surprise grabbing holding of that or being puked over.

What a fantastic programme.  It made me chuckle when the other chap had a go at climbing with a blindfold on

The program was of special interest to my household as we only moved down from Orkney late last year, and my son and I were out on the cliffs above the Old Man last September (TR HERE).


Very impressed by Jesse and Molly, and by the guy trying to climb blindfolded.

The fabled "detector vans" of yore were largely a myth.

I know it's off topic, but a touch of history.
The "detector vans did exist a former employer designed, built and maintained them. However the principle on which they worked was rendered obsolete with the advent of digital TV.
I'll make no comment on how effective they were.

Interesting - I though that they detected emissions from the Cathode Ray Tubes, all those high velocity electrons flying around, and that the advent of LED TVs rendered detector vans obsolete.
