Good Travel Books?
« on: 10:10:17, 06/04/07 »
I've been meaning to start a thread on this on subject for a while.

I have a collection of some 300 or so 'travel' books, and I'm always keen to expand my collection, so am looking for some tips.  I'm not so much interested in general travel books, you know people travelling through countries, as I am .. er 'adventure' books, for want of a better word.

For those of you who are interested. I've just finished reading Karl Bushby's "Giant Steps", his 36,000 mile trek through the American continent.

I would also reccomend Peter Mortimer's "Broke Through Britain".  His account of walking from Plymouth to Edinburgh.  He did it penniless, relying on the charity of the people he met on the way to feed him and give him somewhere to stay for the night.  If I remember correctly, he only slept 'rough' once the entire time.
