Adding your own avatar
« on: 22:42:17, 15/04/10 »
This set of instructions explains how to upload an avatar to your profile. An avatar is simply a personalised picture that appears to the left of all your posts. You can use anything as your avatar, a personal photo or perhaps a picture you've downloaded from the internet, just keep it clean please! ;D

Please note: New Members are unable to upload an avatar until they've reached the rank of Junior Member (>25 posts). This has been done to stop spambots from registering and adding a link to their website within their signature. Whilst this has been very successful in defeating the spambots it does mean that New Members are limited as to what they can edit within their Profile.

1. Click on the button marked 'profile' at the top centre of this page.

2. On the page that opens you'll see a menu on the lefthand side. Under 'Modify Profile' click on 'Forum Profile'.

3. Select the radio button next to 'Upload an avatar' if it's not already selected.

4. Click on the button marked 'Browse...' and in the window that opens find the picture you want to use on your computers harddrive. Once found highlight it and click the button marked 'Open'.

5. To save the changes click the button marked 'Change profile' in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

i. The picture you wish to use should be either a .gif or .jpeg file.

ii. Whilst the forum will automatically re-size your picture if it's too large, due to limited memory on the server you may not be able to successfully upload large pictures during busy periods. Therefore we recommend you re-size your picture to 300x300 pixels before uploading.
