We went to Patterdale again on Saturday, we were back there to go up Arnison Crag the fell we'd not done last week. We had no excuse this week, the winds were light. We started from the footpath near the public loos and started climbing toward Oxford Crag.
The view toward Birkhouse Moor
Ullswater from Oxford Crag
We'd seen a couple of fires, one in the church grounds and one near the playing field, we assumed they were garden fires as there were no fire engines or sirens heard.
Arnison Crag summit
The fires were still producing smoke. The view toward Ullswater wasn't totally spoiled by the smoke. It is one of the best views in the Lake District
Brock Crags, Gray Crag and Hartsop Dodd from Arnison Crag
Although mainly cloudy, there were sunny spells and a bit of blue sky, not a bad day at all.
Place Fell
We wandered over to one of the other little tops to have some lunch. We found a spot out of the wind which was cold but not strong.
Over Birks to Birkhouse Moor and Sheffield Pike
Our lunchtime view of Ullswater
We had a great lunch, soaking up the views.

Squeaky on Arnison Crag
Squeaky enjoying the view of Angletarn Pikes

Beefy and Squeaky on the cairned top on the way to Trough Head
We spied a few possible wild camping spots for future reference.
The stile over the wall into Glenamara Park
The shot was taken after I had got over the stile. It is an awkward and inelegant crossing, this one. Best done when nobody is watching. Thankfully nobody was. There was dog gate for Squeaky so she was spared any embarrassment.
In Glenamara Park
We spoke to the first people on the walk when we got to the main path. It had been quiet so far, hardly anyone about. They were carrying wild camping gear. We were slightly envious as we'd considered going on a wild camp. The Met Office overnight temps for Saturday night had put us off, below zero! We will wait until it's warmer.
Angletarn Pikes and Arnison Crag from Ullswater
Heron Pike and Glenridding Dodd from near Glenridding
The cloud was putting on a show for us.
Silver Crag from Glenridding Pier
We'd had a great walk but we were pleased we hadn't gone camping because the temperature had plummeted when the sun went down and it was really cold while we were waiting for the bus. Our route was Patterdale - Oxford Crag - Arnison Crag - Trough Head - Glenamara Park - Grisedale Bridge - Glenridding Pier - Glenridding. 10km with 372m ascent.
