Title: Slieve Corragh and Slievenaglogh
Post by: henryb on 15:58:00, 04/06/17
With intermittent cloud touching the peaks of the higher Mournes, Saturday's walk saw me take in two lower peaks in the eastern Mournes: Slieve Corragh and Slievenaglogh. Starting from Meelmore Lodge I followed the Trassey Track to Hare's gap. As views opened up of the higher Mournes I made my way along the brandy pad in the direction of Slieve Corragh. The brandypad is probably the best walk in the Mournes which serves as a highway from the central to eastern Mournes without climbing any peaks. After 25 minutes walking on the well marked path, I turned off the beaten track in the direction of the Mourne wall between Commedagh and Slieve Corragh. Upon reaching the wall I turned left to the summit cairn of Slieve Corragh. Slieve Corragh's view of Ben Crom reservoir is one of my favorites in the Mournes. After a short break I made the straightforward short walk to the neighboring summit of Slievenaglogh. I descended to Meelmore Lodge for lunch using the green lane to complete a circular walk of 10km.

Thanks all for replies :)
@ beefy Slieve Corragh panorama is my favourite
@ April the brandypad is my second favourite path after the back castles of Binnian.
@ Penygadair Meelmore lodge is a great base for Bernagh/Meelmore and Corragh. Good parking facilities also. Restaurant has recently been refurbished.
