We decided to take in more of the area around where we were staying, so it was off along the single track concrete waymarked road (yet another offshoot of the Camino del  Norte, this one to the monastery at Santo Toribio just outside Potes.

But we were not going to the monastery at Santo Toribio (26km away), instead we were heading off through the forest steadily climbing up towards Brana Los Tejos. After spending quite a while avoiding very muddy tracks/paths up through the woods we had a change off plan and on reaching a decent track turned off to the Collada Cerracedo (854m) before walking along the Mesa Gandara Llana to Pico Trespenas (944m) for a lunch break and a seat with a view

One of the features of the area are the vultures and buzzards and today we disturbed about 9 or 10 of the huge vultures as we walked by the Collado above. Back in the village of Cicera we saw, daily, two buzzards at close quarters, including on one day the sight of one of them swooping down and taking what appeared to be a small rabbit.

After lunch it was back onto the track and a descent to the road by way of Agua Seles. A bit of tarmac bashing, on a hot afternoon, saw us walk past Ermita de Santa Catalina and on up to Mirador de Santa Catalina and Pico de Las Puertas (757m). The Mirador has spectacular views along the Desfiladera de la Hermida and also across to Tresviso, our first walk of the holiday. We were also fortunate to see, close at hand, the vultures flying around by the Mirador and then soaring upwards on thermals.

Short walk of 1.5km back to the village of Cicera and almost the end of another wonderful week in the Picos.
