Hills for toddlers
« on: 15:04:18, 15/10/18 »
A relation is heading to the Lakes next week with their nearly 3 yr old and nearly 5 yr olds in tow. What would be a good first hill for them? It’s a long time since I did any “little” hills there. I’m thinking Catbells probably just a bit too much, although the little one will most likely be more keen on climbing a hill than the older one! Orrest Head? Latrigg? They’re staying in Bowness.

What about Gummer's How (SD 39048 88486)?  It is not far away, great views over Windermere and if they park at the car park at SD 38954 87630, most of the climbing will be done by the car but it is still a proper hill.

Catbells was the first mountain we took our son up, he was still on reigns!

Orrest Head would be an excellent first hill, Latrigg good too.  How about Latterbarrow near Hawkshead?

Always like the route from Elterwater to Grasmere.

Beautiful views and not too challenging.
