Post by: Owen on 21:15:08, 27/08/18

Following on from this tread http://www.walkingforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=36174.msg526881#new I went out with my new camera today for a walk from the house. The weather wasn't so good very overcast and dull.

There used to be concrete steeps here but a landslide three years ago destroyed them so they've now replaced them with wood ones.

There's a silver mine in silver glen, the owner built a huge mansion, Alva House, that was demolished in the 40's but the stables still stands. I think his Lordship's horses were better accommodated than many of his tenants. Alas, the mine was worked long ago.

Great walking country to have so close - love the fact that the trig ppoint is sheltering from the wind in the summit shelter.

Thanks for posting this Owen, all too many times I have flogged along the A9 on the way south and not given a second thought to the Ochil Hills. Some good shots there - are you pleased with your new Canon EOS?

"flogged along the A9 on the way south" - observing the speed limits, of course!
