Sunday 17th June: The Chilterns. Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Coach and return from Birmingham city centre.
Our Sunday walks are by coach and are more often than not linear, with a different drop-off and pick-up point, making for more interesting and varied walking. We have three levels of walk to suit all abilities, 7 to 8, 10 and 12 miles approx. A packed lunch and refreshments should be taken for the whole day, although we generally have a lunchtime pub stop for refreshments. All our Sunday walks are by coach and the pick up point is Colmore Row, Birmingham City Centre. The coach leaves at 9.00 am, but advise walkers to arrive by 8.30 am to ensure a seat. No pre-booking required, but please contact us to confirm your attendance/seat availability.

WALK DESCRIPTIONS: Starting near Stokenchurch just off the M40, we begin our walks on the gentle north western scarp of the Chiltern Hills with a circuit of the flower-rich chalk grassland of Aston Rowant National Nature Reserve. All three walks have sections of beech woodland and rolling grassland offering stunning views – and we should see red kites. On a recent recce, we counted no less than ten red kites flying over us at the same time. All three parties take a pub stop at the pleasant and friendly Fox and Hounds at Christmas Common. The A and B parties finish with a steady gentle ascent of grassy Shirburn Hill from where we are rewarded with sweeping views of the surrounding countryside before finishing our walk. The C walk will finish at the pub at Christmas Common. Distances: A walk – 12 Miles, B walk –  10 miles, C walk –  7 miles.
